Robert Koch (1843-1910) was a bacteriologist. He identified the bacillus that caused the scourge of tuberculosis. He discovered the tubercular bacillus which enabled to cure T. B. patients. He won the Nobel prize for medicine in 1905. He was already renowned for his discoveries in the field of anthrax, cholera, sleeping sickness and bubonic plague.
