Ramanand a clever boy went to spring to get exactly 4 quarts of water, but he had only 2 jars, 1 jar holding 5 quarts and the other jar holding 3 quarts. How was Ramanand able to get 4 quarts using only these jars?

Ramanand filled the 3-quart jar and poured it into the 5-quarter jar, then he filled the 3-quart jar again and poured it into the 5-quart jar until the 5 – quart jar was full. He then had 1 quart left in the 3 quart jar. He emptied the 5-quart jar and poured the 1 – quart into it. Finally, he filled the 3-quart jar and poured it into the 5 – quart jar, which gave him exactly 4 quarts.
