The rats and the cat - Bed time story

Many rats were living in a hole near a house. They were getting food daily. They were all happy. One night a cat entered the hole and attacked all the rats. all the rats went out running thay all feared. But some how the cat catched one small rat. The cat took it and ate it. Next day the mother rat was caught. The other rats started to worry.

They assembled at one place and discussed the matter. One fatty rat suggested, " We are all independent. then how can we accept our defeat? We have to be free from our enemy. let us put him to death."

Then a small rat got up and said, " Its not so easy. The cats are powerful. They catch us and kill. the easy way is to escape from it. But we have to know is arrival. So let all of us find him and tie a bell in his neck. When the cat comes we can come to know as the bell will ring and we all can escape."

The suggestion was accepted. But an old rat said, " Its alright. But who is to bell the cat?" No rat ca me forward to tie bell to the cat. The suggestion failed. Next suggestion came. A wounded rat got up and informed, "My dear friends, tomorrow when cat arrives let us all fall on it and put him to death.

All the rats agreed. Next day they waited the cat entered the hole in the night. the rats bit the cat with their sharp teeth. The cat died. All the rats were happy. then the wounded rat boosted, "Actually I killed the rat. because I gave you the suggestion. Otherwise you would not have killed it".

The other rats didn't agree. Each one boasted. they quaralled with each other. They envied each other thereby. All are seperated. They started wandering alone.

A few days passed. Another cat entered the hole. He started eating rats one by one. In a short period all the rats found dead.

Moral of the story:
Unity is strength. If it is lost suffering do occur.
